EXCEPT a money order so the inmate can purchase items themselves, even Stamps!
Send no stamps.

Inmates must buy stamps and phone card privileges through their expense account.

They can also purchase beauty/toiletries, socks, underwear, snacks and misc. food. Money orders are greatly appreciated. They are allowed to order twice a week from the list of items.

You CANNOT send stamps or paper to them. Everything an inmate has they must purchase with their expense account. You may include up to $100 each week in their expense account. Must be a money order only - each Money order must be $50 or less. You can send $20 Money order too.

An inmate can purchase a $9 phone card or an $18 phone card. YOU CANNOT CALL THEM, no incoming phone calls allowed. One $9 phone call allows then three $3 phone calls for approx. 15 minutes each. The inmate can only call a LAND LINE (no cell or mobile) and your LAND LINE must be able to accept private calls. ( I think )

The best thing you can do for someone in jail who has no legal representation is to go to the 4th floor and obtain the forms to get a Public Defender (free attorney) for them.

It is my understanding that everything an inmate needs must be purchase with the money that someone adds to their expense account. When you turn in money to them, it must be in the form of a money order and then it is added to their spending account.

They can then buy paper, pencils, stamps, clothing, socks, underwear and extra food items ( like snacks and small meals).

The most important thing is to make sure you are on their list and you send a money order for whatever amount you can afford to give them weekly. It's my belief that each money order can be no more than $50. So if you were able to send $100, it would have to be 2 $50 money orders. BUT if all you can send is $10 or $20 even that would help them.

EVERYTHING an inmate has...must be purchased with their account.

I believe BOOKS must be ordered from Amazon.com and be sent directly to the Jail by Amazon, limit 2 per week.
